Portuguese Nationality
We follow applications for Portuguese nationality under the Nationality Law (Organic Law No. 2/2006, as amended), before the competent IRN services and, where necessary, before the administrative courts.

Applications pending without a decision for a long time, refusals, and applications where the residence, language or community-link requirements raise doubts.
Silence and delay by the administration
When the administration does not decide within the legal deadline, its silence can have legal consequences. Depending on the case, it is possible to request an order requiring the administration to take the due decision, under the Administrative Courts Procedure Code (CPTA).
Refusals
A refusal must be analysed carefully in terms of its reasoning and challenge deadlines. Not every refusal is final, and in some cases the reasoning can be contested.
Professional transparency note. Each case is analysed individually. No specific outcome can be guaranteed in administrative, judicial or notarial proceedings, since the final decision always rests with the competent authority or the court. The information on this website is general and does not replace legal advice on your specific case.
