Criminal Law
Criminal defence requires involvement from the start of the case. We assist defendants and, where applicable, assistants and civil claimants at the investigation, pre-trial and trial stages, under the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Book a consultationFrom the very first moment
A defendant's rights must be respected from the first hearing. Before making any statement, it is advisable to speak to a lawyer and to understand the framework and the evidence available.
Stages of the proceedings
Investigation: following procedural steps, requesting access to the file and evidence applications.
Pre-trial hearing (instrução): discussing whether the evidence is sufficient and, where applicable, the application for a pre-trial hearing.
Trial: preparing the defence, examining witnesses and closing submissions.
Nullities and appeals
Some procedural irregularities may lead to the nullity of acts or evidence. We analyse the lawfulness of each step and the deadlines to appeal decisions.
Professional transparency note. Each case is analysed individually. No specific outcome can be guaranteed in administrative, judicial or notarial proceedings, since the final decision always rests with the competent authority or the court.
